Executive Function Coaching

Executive Function refers to a set of cognitive skills that are critical in learning.  Executive function skills develop from early childhood through adolescence.  They include: 

Organization

Organization is how we set up our physical materials and also how we conceptualize and connect information.

Planning

Planning helps students manage their workload, start and complete a project, and organize before writing.  Planning ensures that students have everything they need when they need it, and that they keep up with their assignments.  

Time Management

Successful students plan and monitor their time.  Tools like calendars, schedules and stopwatches can help. 

Study Strategies

Studying effectively and efficiently is critical.  Students must have a variety of ways to study and know how to tailor them for each subject. 

Note Taking

Learning how to take effective and efficient notes will help with learning and studying.  Notes need to be easy to take and easy to review. 

Task Initiation

Sometimes getting started is the hardest part!  EF coaching can teach strengthen the mind to overcome procrastination.
